Manufacturing

Scientific Alloys Corp's (SAC) proprietary manufacturing process produces known volume parts prior to spherizing the alloys. Tolerances on these initial preforms permit the final solder sphere tolerance to be consistent and highly uniform from sphere to sphere. This ensures meeting placement coplanarity requirements. This proprietary technique produces exceptional surface condition, uniformity and ultimate roundness.

Applications

For high volume production of BGA packages, Metal stencils offer precision printing of solder cream or flux on multi-up substrates. Placement of spheres may follow, with use of robotic placement systems or fixtures.

Shipping, Storage and Availability

Sphere lead time is 7 working days from receipt of order, and per release schedule thereafter. Samples quantities are available within days.

Spheres are shipped in Glass or Electro Static Discharge (ESD) polypropylene containers and are backfilled with Argon or Nitrogen. Quantities are typically 250,000 or more per container; though this varies with the size of the sphere. There are no special storage requirements; however they should be kept sealed and dry.
